CSM Courses Summary

BSc Applied Geology (UCAS code F613) & BSc Engineering Geology & Geotechnics (UCAS code F644)

  • Specialist facilities including underground mine sites and our world-class analytical geochemistry and mineralogy facilities
  • Excellent employment prospects – a very high proportion of our graduates enter employment directly related to their studies
  • Cornwall’s superb geology and minerals industry (china clay) provide an excellent natural laboratory

BEng Mining Engineering (UCAS code J110)

  • Excellent employment prospects – a very high proportion of our graduates enter employment directly related to their studies
  • CSM has an excellent international reputation for training mining engineers
  • Superb facilities including two mines and a surveying field station
  • CSM Undergraduate Scholarships of up to £2000 per year available

BSc Renewable Energy (UCAS code F802)

  • Renewable energy at degree level is a broad, multidisciplinary subject drawing upon the natural, physical sciences that shape our environment and the human and life sciences that influence the way we live in it.
  • It provides a broad-based training appropriate for students who wish to maximise their employment potential as energy professionals.
  • Cornwall has significant and diverse renewable energy resources and has led the nation in the development and exploitation of wind power. CSM pioneered geothermal energy research in leading the £40m Hot Dry Rocks project and is developing shoreline wave power conversion technology.
  • The degree has very close contacts with renewable energy businesses in Cornwall. You will benefit from real field-stations and paid work placements.
  • You can specialise in the science of power generation technology or in the management and socio-economics of the delivery of renewable energy technology. All students benefit from a foundation in the relevant engineering science.
  • Field-based activities are an integral part of the degree programme. These consist of day classes in Cornwall and SW England and residential field trips in the UK and overseas.
